This is terrific drawing of contemporary pop-art sensibilities. Your subject matter and style mesh - no compromises . . . and that's a rare thing. The drawing is congruent through and through and you've shown us a finished idea. There is a lot of suggestion in those eyes - the turn of the lip - and you've done the features in such a styled and subtle way it is utterly convincing of mood. The portrait conveys a brash and open sensitivity which is alluring and the drawing style shows a seasoned hand.

Leaving the remnants of penciled imperfections (those specks and dots of graphite,) lends a human, imperfect touch. Add to that the odd peculiarity of the eyebrow propelling OVER the cast of the hair, and you've turned it from a nice portrait into a serious effort at reaching for ART. This visual disruption adds a powerful emotional dissonance and it is obvious this abstraction was not a 'mistake,' but purposefully chosen. The line work looks free and careless, which adds to the charm . . . but careless it is not.

This, then, is a sophisticated portrait well done. More work in this line should prove valuable.
